We all enjoy watch a play here and there. It’s something different from reading or what you get on TV. The music, the live action, the spontaneous improvisation is something that gives us 2 hours of joy. Here we compiled a list of our 4 favourite plays here in London!

The Lion King

We’ve all probably seen Disney’s Lion King, what’s not to enjoy about the amazing soundtrack, the story line, the reminiscence of our childhood. It only makes sense that they transformed the movie into an Award Winning London musical/play. Ever since its’ premiere on Broadway back in 1997, there hasn’t been a single day where it wasn’t a full house audience. The Lion King is “set against the majesty of the Serengeti Plains, to the evocative rhythms of Africa.” You’ll find the beloved characters from the animated film come to life with amazing costumes and special effects. Picture the Circle of Life scene in the movie and envision it on stage with more than 25 species of animals marvelously represented by actors and puppets. Yes, you’ll even see elephants on stage! Featuring music of Elton John and lyrics by Tim Rice, all the beloved songs with the additional of new ones will be heard!

The Book of Mormon

The creators of South Park bring to you a comedy musical/play called The Book of Morman which follows a pair of teenage Mormon missionaries sent to convert a village in a dangerous part of Uganda. The twist comes with their trouble connecting with the locals who are more worried about war, famine, poverty and AIDS as opposed to religion. Winning more than 9 Tony Award, this musical has earned the reputation of being “the filthiest, most offensive and surprise sweetest thing you’ll see and quite possibly the funniest musical ever”- Vogue Magazine. Lose yourself in the music, humour and fantastic story line. This is a must see! *Only suitable for audiences over 18 and above due to explicit language!

Arabian Nights, Flying Carpets, Genies, The Beauty and Enchantment of the Middle Eastern culture and more is what you’re going to experience at the musical/play Aladdin. Based on another one of our Disney favourites, Aladdin takes us back to the love story between Princess Jasmine and Aladdin himself. Aladdin features much-loved family favourites, A Whole New World, Friend Like Me and Arabian Nights from the classic. Be amazed with the music, the story, the dazzling costumes! Be ready to experience Agrabah in a completely new light!

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

When we all thought the Harry Potter series was over, it felt like an end of an era. Most of us grew up with it and having it suddenly end was off putting. When they introduced Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in July 2016, it was like that fire within us ignited again. It was another thing to be excited about. Harry Potter and the Cursed child is the eighth Harry Potter adventure which follows on from the epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. We see the adventures of middle-aged Harry and his son Albus who just like Harry once did, starts his journey at Hogwarts! With its’ rave reviews, the show is said to be sold out till August 29,2018, but we suppose there’s always a way to snatch some tickets! Be sure to catch this play!
