Bonfire Night, is the anniversary Fawkes’ arrest on 5 November and is celebrated with bonfires and firework displays in London.
Bonfire Night, is known to be a tradition that was brought back all the way from 1605. This tradition goes back to the Gunpowder Plot of 1605, when conspirator Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament and King James I. Since then, just for extra precaution, it’s customary for cellars in Houses of Parliament to be searched by the Yeoman of the guard before each State Opening of Parliament.
